On Peace Day 2015 thousands of activities took place  all over the world celebrating peace through dance. The campaign was particularly strong in the Great Lakes region of Africa where hundreds of events took place all over the region. Globally, thousands of Zumba® instructors and participants danced together to promote reconciliation and peace-building in their local communities and a special ballet class at Hong Kong Cultural Centre taught by famed international guest teacher and former Principal of The Royal Ballet and American Ballet Theatre, Ms Cynthia Harvey, helped make 2015 one of the most successful years yet for the One Day One Dance campaign. Here are some of the other inspirational events from 2015:

Zumba Fitness®, Global

Our partnership with Zumba Fitness® led to an incredibly energetic campaign called #Dance4Peace, seeing about 600 Dance4Peace videos of Zumba® classes and events for Peace Day and/or Zumba® moves for peace uploaded on social media, from 67 different countries all over the world.

Kivu Youth Entertainment, DRC

Vijana Up is a project of Kivu Youth Entertainment (KEY) to reintegrate street children through hip hop dance. For Peace Day, KEY organised an ‘introduction to hip hop dance and performance’ involving Rinha Crew (young dancers, the trainers in Vijana Up) and the children of Vijana Up at transit centre CAJED with former child soldiers. They trained in hip hop dance and Capoeira, and they did a dance performance all together. Vijana Up shared this message for Peace Day: “Let’s live in peace in our families, not in armed forces or groups, nor in the streets, nor in the camps.”
