Eddie Izzard has been hailed as one of the foremost Stand-Ups of his generation. His early career began in 1983 as a street performer in London’s Covent Garden. In 1993 he took to the West End stage with his stand-up debut show Live at the Ambassadors. Since then there have been a succession of sell-out and critically-acclaimed International tours including gigs at Madison Square Garden Arena in New York, making Eddie only the fourth comedian ever to play that venue, a recent three month residency at the Theatre De Dix Heures in Paris followed this year by a night at L’Olympia in Paris (where he performed STRIPPED in French). In 2011 he became the first ever stand up to perform at the legendary Hollywood Bowl.
Eddie’s musings have earned him countless awards including two Emmy¹s. Whilst initially renowned as a comic, he is also now equally respected as a film, theatre and TV actor.Eddie’s stage appearances include Mamet¹s The Cryptogram and A Day in the Death of Joe Egg in London and on Broadway, which won him several prestigious awards including a Tony Nomination for Best Actor.
Film work includes Valkyrie, alongside Tom Cruise and both Ocean’s Twelve and Thirteen opposite Brad Pitt and George Clooney. Last year he appeared as Long John Silver in the Sky TV Drama, Treasure Island and also as Anthony in BBC 1′s Emmy-nominated drama Lost Christmas. He has also recently appeared in the US hit dramaHannibal.
In August 2009 Eddie took a month off work and ran 43 marathons in 51 days for Sport Relief raising in excess of £1.85 million.
Never one to rest on his laurels Eddie is currently on a world tour with his brand-new comedy tour, Force Majeure, which will be the most extensive comedy tour ever. It began its mammoth journey around the globe during spring 2013. From Cardiff to Kathmandu, Moscow to Mumbai, Eddie will visit over 27 countries throughout Europe, USA, Africa, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, India, Nepal and The Far East.
