Young People Bring Hope
Nothing in the work that I do gives me more pleasure than speaking with young people about the importance of working together for peace. Over the years, I have met with some of the most influential men and women in the world; I have given speeches in front of thousands of people at the Royal Albert Hall; but, none of it even begins to match the thrill I feel when I am talking to a roomful of young people and see their eyes widen with wonder at what they might be able to help me achieve. I know that they are the generation who are going to grow up to make a difference. Nowhere is there more hope and opportunity than in a classroom.
Here at Peace One Day, our aim is to advance active learning in the areas of conflict resolution, global citizenship, human rights and the link between sustainability and peace, using Peace Day as the focus. Our goal is to provide every school on earth with free access to our education materials to every school on earth. To date, the School Edition of my film, The Day After Peace, has been delivered to 6,000 schools in the UK and over 4000 schools in New England, USA. In the last twelve weeks, more than 1,600 teachers have registered on http://education.peaceoneday.org for their free multimedia pack, which contains 19 lesson plans and over 20 video clips.
In peace,
Jeremy
