Tipping Point
We are at a tipping point.
I’ve just held a full staff meeting here at Peace One Day, and with four months
until Peace Day 2010, I am proud to say that we are well on our way to meeting
our goals for the year – I’m talking about supporting life-saving activities,
football matches for One Day One Goal or schools around the world that use our
Education Resource.
But we are aiming to quadruple our numbers from last year, so when I say we are
at a tipping point, I mean exactly that – what we do right now, and what
you do right now, will determine the success of 21 September 2010.
There is no point in being cynical; cynicism is simply a way of justifying
inactivity - 'it'll never work, so I don't have to do anything'. It is
absolutely vital that you act – and more than that, tell your friends.
Spread the word about Peace One Day. It’s an infectious message – but it
depends on a sense of personal responsibility: Are you willing to raise your
voice for peace?
When we have meetings, everyone contributes, no matter how long they have
worked here. Everyone has a voice; everyone contributes. Now it’s
your turn. Whether it’s a football match, making up with a lost
friend, a screening of one of our films, or a life-saving cause, take the
initiative now – your commitments are the currency that will make peace a
reality.
With your help, we can institutionalise Peace Day. With your help, we can
change the world.
Will you stand with us? Will you make a commitment for Peace Day
now?
Complete the 3 steps to Peace One Day:
1. Decide what you will do to
make peace on September 21, at school, at home or in your local community;
2. Log your Peace Day commitment at www.peaceoneday.org;
3. Tell others around the world and
ask them to complete the Three Steps to Peace One Day.
Thanks
In Peace,
Jeremy Gilley
