Africa Youth Peace Initiatives is a not-for-profit organisation that addresses the root causes of violence and its effects among communities through promoting community-based projects in education, health, environment and agriculture. This is done through disseminating research, equipping young people with job skills and supporting community projects throughout Uganda and the wider Great Lakes region.
Africa Youth Peace Initiatives marked Peace Day 2013 with a series of activities including a One Day One Goal match between local government officials and members of civil society organisations, peace prayers from a variety of denominations, tree planting, radio shows, a peace procession through the town centre including music, dances and drama performances, as well as the Regional Peace Dialogue Symposium, a public forum that brought together stakeholders to discuss key issues surrounding peace.
